Restoring Files with the DataBak software
How can I restore a file I backed up
Why can't I see a file I backed up awhile ago
How can I restore a file I backed up
- Click on the Restore tab in the Backup Client on your PC.
- Click on the "Files before .... " drop down list under the Restore tab and select the backup date to restore.
- Choose which files to restore. NOTE: Depending on the above option you may be able to restore a different version of the file by right clicking and selecting 'Backup history'.
- Click the 'Restore Now' button on the far right hand side of the window.
- You will be prompted to select a destination folder. We recommend selecting a temporary folder in which to restore rather than the original locations. If you are restoring a number of folders we recommend ticking the 'rebuild folder hierarchy..' option. Click OK to start the restore process.
- A message will be displayed indicating that a connection to the backup server is being made.
- If the file you are restoring already exists in the destination path you will be prompted to rename the file so it does not have the same name; then the file will be restored. NOTE: There may be a delay if a file is large or has previous versions.
Why can't I see a file that I backed up a while ago
The Restore view defaults to displaying the most recent version of your files. To see older versions, click on the "Files before ..." drop down list (under the Restore tab) and select the view that you want.
If you still don't see the file, select 'Display all available files' from the Restore menu at the top of the window.
